To sleep properly your body needs to go through the 5 stages of sleep.


Do you burn the candle at both ends? Work too much overtime? Never seem to have enough time in the day to accomplish everything you wanted to?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions then I would be willing to bet you can’t or don’t get enough sleep. Most people don’t realize that sleep is how your body repairs itself and if you don’t get enough sleep your body will slow down and ultimately break down. This breakdown can be a simple a cold or the flu of as complicated as a heart condition or other major illness.

To sleep properly your body needs to go through the 5 stages of sleep. Stage 1 - where you’re between wakefulness and sleep. Stage 2 - where your brain is relaxing, body temperature is lowered, heart rate slows, and you’re no longer aware of your surroundings. Stage 3 delta waves - where you’re transitioning into a deep sleep. Stage 4 delta sleep – where restorative and healing sleep occur. Stage 5 REM (rapid eye movement) – where you’re in dreamland and your brain is storing the day’s memories.
